ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation that accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering and technology. Developed by technical professionals, the accreditation criteria is focused on what students experience and learn, and adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines. The ETAC of ABET accreditation provides assurance that DeVry’s engineering technology programs meet the quality standard for technical education set by the profession, enabling students to be well prepared to enter the field.
ETAC of ABET reaffirmed accreditation for the following campus-based* undergraduate degree programs:
- Biomedical engineering technology
- Computer engineering technology
- Electronics engineering technology
DeVry offered one of the nation’s first undergraduate degree programs in electronics engineering technology (EET). Its EET bachelor’s degree program in Chicago first received ETAC of ABET accreditation in 1970.
ETAC of ABET accreditation was awarded for DeVry’s online engineering technology bachelor’s degree programs, specifically:
DeVry is one of a few schools in the U.S. to have ETAC of ABET-accredited online engineering technology programs. This accreditation is retroactive to October 2014, allowing DeVry online engineering technology graduates to include this designation on their resumes.
“ETAC of ABET sets the program and employment standards that are recognized worldwide in the field of engineering technology,” said Shantanu Bose, Ph.D., provost, DeVry University. “We are proud to have received this reaffirmation of our campus programs and new accreditation of our online programs to further demonstrate our academic quality. We are committed to helping bridge the tech skills gap with our students, alumni and employers that hire our graduates.”
