Simon Obeid, Ph.D., is a professor and faculty chair at DeVry University, where he teaches courses in networking concepts, circuit design and management information systems. As a faculty chair, he is responsible for managing and developing the faculty assigned to teach in the Orlando-metro area and for providing strategic leadership in local implementation of programs.

Obeid joined DeVry in 2012 as a visiting professor and served as an associate dean for the College of Engineering & Information Systems at the Columbus campus from 2013-14. Today, he serves as a national faculty chair for DeVry’s College of Media Arts and Technology. Obeid is also an ETAC (Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission)-ABET program evaluator.

Previously, Obeid was the dean of the School of Information Technology at ITT Technical Institute in Charlotte, NC, where he taught courses, implemented policies and procedures and advised students, faculty and advisory committees. He was also a test engineer for Albany Instruments and served as a visiting professor at various colleges, including Johnson C. Smith University, University of Phoenix and the University of North Carolina.

A member since 2003, Obeid served as the chair of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Computer Society for the DeVry Charlotte chapter from 2009-12, and as vice chair the year before. Widely published, Obeid has presented his research at dozens of conferences and has served as a reviewer or guest speaker for many others. He was awarded, “Best Paper,” presented at ICMTSET 2014 (International Conference of Material Science and Engineering Technology) and has been a member of The National Scholars Honor Society since 2006.
 
Obeid earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina in 2008, where he also earned his Master of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering. He is currently earning an MBA from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management.
