Gerald Harris is a Senior Professor at DeVry University in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences where he teaches courses in the humanities department. His area of expertise lies in globalization and modern world history, and he is furthering that knowledge in his study of transnational capitalist class theory; the state, politics and globalization; the globalization of the alternative energy industry; and developments in China.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in history from Long Beach State, Mr. Harris took a position in Chicago as an Assistant to the Commissioner in the Mayor’s Office of Employment and Training. In 1986, he earned a master’s degree in teaching and accepted a position as an instructor at DeVry University’s Chicago campus. 24 years later, Mr. Harris continues to not only share his knowledge with his students but contribute his expertise to the field by authoring a book entitled Dialectics of Globalization, over fifty articles for professional journals and newspapers, as well as editing four volumes of work on globalization.
In addition to his duties as a professor of humanities at DeVry University, Mr. Harris is the co-founder and editor of the online journal cyRev. He also remains active as a board member of the Global Studies Association of North America and United Kingdom and serves on the International Editorial Board for the online journal Globalizations. Mr. Harris has been asked to share his expertise on globalization by speaking and presenting papers annually at various conferences around the world.
