Associate Professor Karmaveer Koonjbearry joined DeVry University in 1999. As a faculty member in the University’s College of Engineering & Information Sciences, Koonjbearry teaches networking, data assurance and mathematics to undergraduate and graduate students attending the university through its online learning modality.
 
Koonjbearry’s expertise in the classroom is backed by more than 17 years of professional experience with telecommunications giant Verizon Communications, as well as by an information systems security consultancy with the Supreme Court of Oklahoma.
 
To remain current in his field, Koonjbearry is active in numerous professional organizations, including IEEE, the Association of Computer Professionals, the Computer Security Institute, the Optical Society of America and the Association for Computing Machinery. Additionally, he’s served in elected positions with the Mathematical Association of America and with Phi Sigma Iota, which recognizes outstanding accomplishment in fields relating to foreign language, literature and culture.  
 
Koonjbearry holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and French from Wabash College, in Indiana; three master of science degrees – in data assurance, telecommunications and network engineering, and mathematics (with a concentration in computer science) from the University of Dallas, Southern Methodist University and the University of Arkansas, respectively; and a doctor of science in information assurance from Capitol College, in Maryland. His dissertation, An Alternate Method to Authenticate in TLS/SSL, was published in 2013. He’s also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer; earned COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology) certification from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association; and holds a patent in dynamic authentication for transport layer security/secure sockets layer.
