Dr. Ahmed Naumaan
Title: National Dean for the College of Engineering and Information Sciences at DeVry University Dr. Ahmed Naumaan is the national dean of the College of Engineering and Information Sciences at DeVry University. In this role, he is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the college, establishing the direction of degree programs, supervising curriculum management, course development and growing a culture of academic excellence and practical success. Dr. Naumaan has worked in multiple institutions within academia and industry in individual contributor and leadership positions. His experience in academia includes both administrator and faculty roles. Most recently he served as dean for the School of Information Systems and Technology at Kaplan University, where he developed strategic plans for growth of the school and helped to launch new specializations in mobile computing and health informatics. Prior to his role at Kaplan, Dr. Naumaan served as associate dean for engineering at the NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science at Walden University and as faculty member in the Computer Science and Engineering department at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Dr. Naumaan also worked in industry at several companies as engineer and manager, being responsible for product development and projects in automated meter reading systems, communication devices and information technology; and for conducting research on solid-state sensors and integrated optical devices. Dr. Naumaan has been a member of organizing committees for several national and international conferences and workshops. He also served as guest editor for a special issue of the Transactions of the IEEE CHMT Society on integrated optics. He has multiple publications and conference presentations and holds two patents. His current research interests are in the areas of engineering education and education delivery mechanisms. He is also active in community volunteer activities and has served on the Boards of several non-profit organizations. Dr. Naumaan received his Ph.D. and MS in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his BE in electronics from the University of Karachi in Pakistan.
