Joseph York, Ph.D.
Title:National Dean for the College of Health Sciences at DeVry University
Joseph York, Ph.D., is the national dean for the College of Health Sciences at DeVry University. He is responsible for creating, developing and implementing courses and curricula in health sciences for the university’s national student population as well as recruiting and cultivating faculty and subject matter experts for new and existing programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Most recently, Dr. York was assistant dean at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, where he managed the medical resident education program and oversaw professional development, including all faculty appointments in pediatrics and medical education.
Dr. York began his career at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine as associate dean of curriculum, where he was responsible for program evaluation, assessment, finance and planning. After 15 years with the University of Illinois at Chicago, he served as associate dean at the University of Washington, helping to oversee residency program accreditation, education and faculty development for more than 1,000 trainees.
With more than 15 published manuscripts and book chapters, Dr. York is revered in academia and has been an invited speaker and participant in more than 50 national and international conferences.
He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a Doctor of Philosophy in education/public policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
