Title: President, DeVry University

James Bartholomew joined DeVry University in 2014 as the chief operations officer and became the president in 2017. As chief executive of the university, he is responsible for establishing strategic direction in support of DeVry’s purpose: to empower its students to achieve their educational and career goals.

Previously, Bartholomew was the president for Le Cordon Bleu. He also held a variety of progressive leadership roles as campus president, regional vice president, and vice president of operations at Universal Technical Institute. Prior to entering higher education, Bartholomew owned and managed a logistics start up and held various general management and operation leadership roles with global companies Ciba Specialty Chemicals and Sara Lee Corporation.

Bartholomew holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, and an MBA from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
